CASE STUDY
Margaret – A partner at a law firm
Wanted a second opinion about the fees she was paying for the management of her investments.
Margaret had worked in the Middle East for over 15 years and was unhappy with the management of her money. She was concerned about the fees she was paying, the performance of her investments, and most of all, the service she was getting.
I had met several financial advisers during my time in the Middle East. And as a lawyer working in a highly regulated environment, I was surprised how financial advice could differ so much from the advice I had previously received in the UK.
In my profession, I must act in the best interest of my clients. But it did not feel like I had the same relationship with my current adviser.
It turns out not all financial advisers are fiduciaries, which meant that some of the recommendations I had previously received were likely not in my best interest. I now know this is because the investments recommended paid significantly higher fees than those that would be the best fit for me.
I was also getting exasperated with the service I was receiving. Unable on many occasions to contact my adviser, and the response was always so slow.
An ex-colleague had recommended Jessica to me, so I asked her for a second opinion on my financial situation and investments.
After a long and detailed discussion and review of my financial arrangements, it became clear that things needed restructuring. I had financial products that were not suited to my needs. In some cases, I was paying excessive fees, and as I learned, my investments did not align with my risk appetite.
Jessica restructured my entire investment portfolio. It is now completely aligned with my goals. It is simplified as she stripped out so many unnecessary policies. It is also entirely transparent in terms of charges.
Most importantly, though, Jessica provides fantastic service. With regular reviews and check-ins. I know she always has my best interests at heart.
